Book Reading

of Cedar the Highland Cow's Story

August 15th - Free for all to attend!

We are so excited to be partnering up with Dalkena Highlands and the Spokane Public Library System to bring you a reading of the book all about Cedar the Highland Cow’s life story!

The book will be read by Honey & Joy Smith of Dalkena Highlands.

Cedar the Highland Cow will be onsite at the event, ready to meet all of you!

What to Expect


All seating will be on the grass—make sure you bring a blanket, towel, or lawn chair! Cedar’s crew will be onsite ready to usher people and ensure everyone has good visibility of Honey & Joy as they read the story.

Who's Invited?​

We’ve joined the Spokane Public Library Summer Reading Program, and all children in the age groups mentioned below will be invited. We also welcome the entire community of all ages to join us for this event and hear Cedar’s story!

Meeting Cedar the Highland Cow

Cedar will be in a portable pen, and all guests are welcome to come up to the pen, take photos, and pet Cedar!

For the safety of Cedar and all her guests, we will not be able to allow anyone to get into the pen with her.

You can meet her any time between 9AM – 1PM

Winning & Purchasing a Copy of The Book​

Cedar’s Crew will be onsite inviting all people who attend to enter to win a copy of the book being read all about Cedar’s story.

Everyone in attendance will receive access to an exclusive QR code that will allow them to be among the first to have the opportunity to purchase a copy of the book! 

A portion of all book sales will go to the Spokane Fair & Expo Center Ag Fund.

Winning Fair Admission & Purchasing Discounted Fair Admission​

Meet the team from the Spokane County Interstate Fair, who will be giving everyone who attends the event the opportunity to enter to win FREE 2024 Fair Admission.

Everyone will also be able to purchase discounted Fair Admission for only $7!

Introducing Bo's
Goat Gear

Dalkena Highlands will be onsite selling Goat Gear, with 100% of proceeds will going to the Spokane Fair & Expo Center Ag Fund to maintain the grounds and reward students and adults in Ag.

Event Schedule

We will have two book readings on Thursday, August 15th for different ages groups.

Event Location

This amazing, one-of-a-kind event will be held on August 15th between 10AM-1PM, outside at Shadle Park, in partnership with the Spokane Public Library, located at 2111 W Wellesley Ave, Spokane, WA 99205.

We will be set up in the shade under a tree in Shadle Park, and Cedar the Highland Cow will be stationed in a pen!
