Join us for an unforgettable experience at the 2023 Spokane County Interstate Fair’s BECU Sensory Day, with our partners: The Isaac Foundation, The Arc of Spokane, and Project ID! Starting at 11am on September 12th, when the fair opens, carnival rides and games will operate in complete silence, creating a calming and inclusive environment. Don’t miss the dedicated quiet zone in the Plaza Courtyard from 11am to 5pm, where you can unwind and relax. For any inquiries, our knowledgeable staff will be available at the resource booths located at the entrance of the courtyard between 11am and 5pm. Come and enjoy a day of fun, tailored to everyone’s needs!

Event Schedule

HORSIN’ AROUND WITH PROJECT ID

11AM - 5PM(While supplies last)

The first 500 people to join Project ID, under the pavilion on the North Lawn will be able to participate in this “HORSIN’ AROUND” craft project with Project ID. Each participant will receive a FREE wood horse head and FREE art supplies to decorate your very own horse head. Also included in this experience will be the opportunity to join us in the Horse Barn to learn more about horses, and meet this year’s Rodeo Queen, Amelie Johnson!

Wizard’s Challenge

Step into a realm where imagination and science intertwine, immersing you in an enchanted world of wizards, dragons, and medieval wonders. Engage in captivating interactive exhibits, witness mesmerizing demonstrations, and embark on thrilling adventures that will ignite your sense of awe and discovery. Discover the perfect blend of magic and education, leaving you and your loved ones spellbound and yearning for more enchanted moments of learning and fun. There are some flashing lights in this display.

Wish Upon A Star Princess Story Time

Storytime hour is FREE to enjoy and runs from 11:00AM- 12:00PM. Enjoy stories read from a Fairytale Princess. Singing, dancing and reading on the North Stage. There are bleachers to sit on and a large grass space. If you prefer to sit in the grass in front of the stage feel free. Photos with the Fairytale Princess will be available for the last 15 minutes of the performance.

Ziggy's Piggy Racing

Ziggys Home Improvement makes it possible to enjoy this feature for FREE all ten days of the Fair. This is located on the North Lawn, behind the food row just east of the main carnival. There are bleachers to sit in and enjoy the show. The announcer is on a mic, and there is a lot of excitement that happens while the pigs are racing. At the end of each race, there is a photo opportunity with the racing pigs. All-Alaskan Racing Pigs are rare, heritage breeds. One of the breeds is called Gloucestershire Old Spots pigs. This breed dwindled to as low as 22 pigs in the United States. All-Alaskan Racing Pigs has been working with U.S. breeders and The Livestock Conservancy to help rebuild their numbers.

Wish Upon A Star Princess Story Time

Storytime hour is FREE to enjoy and runs from 12:00PM – 1:00PM. Enjoy stories read from a Fairytale Princess. Singing, dancing and reading on the North Stage. There are bleachers to sit on and a large grass space. If you prefer to sit in the grass in front of the stage feel free. Photos with the Fairytale Princess will be available for the last 15 minutes of the performance.

Exotic Animals

You can sit and enjoy a talk about the featured animal as well as a photo opportunity is included. The exotic animals feature is free to enjoy and is located in the Ag Barn.

Kids Mutton Bustin'

Mutton Bustin is one of the Fair’s most popular events! It’s Rodeo competition for youngsters ages 4-7 years old riding sheep out of a real Rodeo Bucking Chute! Anything goes, and usually does, as contestants hold on for as long as they can trying to win that Gold Buckle and be crowned the Champion Wool Rider!

Contestants must be at least 4 years of age and not older than 7 years of age and weigh 60 pounds or less on the day of the event. Long pants, long sleeve shirt, and sturdy closed toe shoes are required. Helmets & vests will be supplied, and riders will be required to wear them. The Contestant and only one (1) adult will be allowed in the chute area. There is a fee to participate that will be announced soon. There is no fee to watch and there are bleachers surrounding the activity.

Top Cop Academy High Dive

The Top Cop High dive can be found on the south lawn. This is a FREE feature to watch. There are bleachers provided to watch the show. You can expect the High Dive artists to entertain you on a microphone. There is some clapping encouraged from the crown for this event. The divers do make a small splash when they dive.

Live From The Stock Pen On The North Stage

Live from the Stock Pen” is a special event where 4-H students come together to share their experiences of raising and showcasing animals. During the event, these young participants talk about the process of raising animals, which may include various livestock like cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, or poultry. They detail the responsibilities involved in caring for their animals, including feeding, grooming, and providing proper shelter. One of the main highlights of “Live from the Stock Pen” is the opportunity for the students to show off their animals. Participants demonstrate their skills in handling and presenting their livestock, showcasing the results of their hard work and dedication. “Live from the Stock Pen” provides an educational and entertaining setting for the community to learn about the efforts and accomplishments of these young agricultural enthusiasts

Longhorns

The Longhorns are on display near the Mutton Bustin’ feature. These amazing animals are a must see. You can expect them to be quiet and peaceful to enjoy. On occasion there is a strong smell that our friends make.

Ziggy’s Kids Pedal Tractors

Ziggys Home Improvement makes it possible to enjoy this feature for FREE all ten days of the Fair. This is located on the North Lawn, behind the food row just east of the main carnival. There are bleachers to sit in and enjoy the show. The announcer is on a mic, and there is a lot of excitement that happens during the tractor race! Kids are invited to participate in the race at no charge. The crowd is invited to cheer on the kids as they race on the tractors.

3:15PM - 4:15PM
Wish Upon A Star Princess Parade

The Princess Parade will start at 3:15pm and is free to participate in. The parade will start at the North Stage. Guests are welcome to march in the parade with the Princesses. The parade route will be established soon.

Sean Watson, Master of Illusion

Mark The Hypnotist on the North Stage

Mark the Hypnotist is a MUST SEE! Be there early as seats fill up fast for this FREE feature. Mark is on the north stage. There are bleachers provided to watch the event, or you can sit in the grass in front of the stage. Mark does talk on a microphone and does have some sound effects as part of his show.
